Robert Big Elk

I remember an old man out there told me, "there a lot of Indians out there." And there was a prophecy that I lived, and he said that, I think it was Apomo Indian, an old man, a medicine man. He told his people, he said, " There will be a time coming that there will be Indian people coming to this little island." This man didn't know where it was, but he said "There will be a lot of Indians coming to this place." And sure enough that was Alcatraz Island. And he said that, "When that happens, Indian people will start their movement. They will start to branch out and let people know that they are here and they will always be here." And a lot of things have happened since that movement in 1969 from Alcatraz Island. And I was very, very glad to be a part of that, I have no shame. Because that's where I got my lessons. I just started learning about what this government was really doing to our people, the Indian people, and it wasn't good. And I tell a lot of people, even to this day, that there was a genocide being committed on our people.

During the onslaught of the missionaries and the government people coming onto the reservations, the Indian people didn't know what was coming. As our Omaha people, Big Elk along time ago went to D.C. and came back as a delegate. Came back to his people 100 years ago and told them, "There's a big flood coming." Our people didn't understand what this flood meant. And Big Elk said, "That flood is the white man coming, he's on the move and pretty soon he will be here among you people." And during that time what they called Manifest Destiny was on the move, they came into this part of the world, this part of the country. And they met the Lakota people, the people that lived in this part of the world. But before that they were being persecuted in their own country, Europe before they arrived here. So when they got here they had nothing, but now they got everything. That was the first coming of the white man in this part of the world. You talk about a holocaust, there were over twelve million Indians slaughtered.

If they lied to the Indians, they'll lie to their own people. And I'm seeing that today, there's a lot of people today who are very dissatisfied with this government. It's one of the strongest governments, but it's has a lot of weak people in it, because these people rely on the money they make and the materialism that they like... All the natural laws of the Creator were all put aside, and man came along and made up his own laws. Now all the laws that the man made are all paper laws. And here we are today in mass confusion because of these laws, and now you wonder why things are the way they are today?

The Manifest Destiny isn't dead, it's still going on today, it's still going on. But we gotta watch ourselves because at the same time, the people who are running this country are in trouble too, just like the Indian people. Because what we feel, they feel. We feel the hurt, they're gonna feel the hurt. We talk about prophecies coming, most of them are already used up, we can't change, we can't alter anything that's coming now, we have to live with it and except it. But I always know, that I was told that if your spirit is strong, and you keep praying that you will be able to see this and withstand it. But I also was told that if your spirit is down, you will go down with this whole thing too.

We're all here together now, the black, the white, the yellow, and the red man, we're all here together now. Maybe this was a plan for The Creator to come together and say, Hey, I'm gonna bring you people together, but in the mean time, I'm gonna change the color of your skin, and this is gonna be one of your biggest tests, this will be the test among the humans now. And that is to not look at your skin and treat somebody like you're not part of me because of your skin color.
